Brenda Chagolla, RN, MSN, CNS is the manager of the University Birthing Suites, Woman’s Pavilion and Newborn Nursery at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento California. Prior to her current position, Ms. Chagolla was the perinatal safety specialist for Dignity Health and managed perinatal safety programs at over 30 hospitals which provided care for over 50,000 births per month.
Ms. Chagolla has 18 years of experience in the perinatal field, including as an L&D nurse, maternal transport nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist, patient safety specialist and manager. Ms. Chagolla received her BSN and MSN from San Jose State University. She is licensed as a perinatal Clinical Nurse Specialist and is an instructor trainer for AWHONN’s fetal monitoring program.
She serves on committees for several professional organizations including the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC), March of Dimes and Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), and served as the co-chair of the CMQCC/March of Dimes toolkit; Elimination of Non-medically Indicated (Elective) Deliveries Before 39 Weeks Gestational Age.
