Catherine Ruhl, MS, CNM is Director of Women’s Health Programs at the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) in Washington, DC. Ms. Ruhl has over 30 years of experience in maternal health as a clinician, manager and educator. Ms. Ruhl coordinates professional nursing education programming at AWHONN and represents AWHONN to a variety of national organizations including the National Child and Maternal Health Education Program and the Center for Disease Control’s Select Panel on Preconception Care. She is an editorial advisor and contributor to AWHONN’s consumer health magazine, Healthy Mom & Baby, and AWHONN’s consumer women’s health sites www.health4women.org and www.health4mom.org where she authors her blog, Health Sense. She obtained her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of Kansas and her Masters in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Ms. Ruhl has been a certified nurse-midwife for 25 years and currently practices at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC.
